Sew & Tell is a fashion discovery group for preteen girls ages 10-12.  Through fashion, we explore self-image and the social influences on appearance. The group meets weekly after school, and combine hands-on sewing instruction with discussions about fashion as communication, beauty stereotypes, conflicting cultural expectations, and self-expression.  

 

The goal of the program is for girls to explore their own individuality through fashion and celebrate their bodies in a healthy way.  In addition, participants will gain skills and be empowered by learning about fashion vocabulary, fabrics, fashion illustration, and how to design and sew their own clothes.
